Jacko's doctor to miss funeral
Washington | July 04, 2009 11:10:36 AM IST

Michael Jackson's personal doctor will not attend the star's memorial service on July 7, his spokeswoman has revealed.

Dr. Conrad Murray, who was quizzed by the Los Angeles Police Department in relation to the King of Pop's death, is allegedly in seclusion.

"He will be mourning in private because he feels his presence would remind people of Michael Jackson's death, and the doctor would prefer that people remember his friend as he was in life," People magazine quoted Miranda Sevcik, a spokeswoman for Murray, as saying.

Sevcik added that Murray was "completely off the radar until the toxicology results are revealed. He's not even talking to friends and family, and I haven't even spoken to him personally, either."

Experts cast a shadow of doubt over Murray's actions in the star's finals moments.

Murray was said to have spent 30 minutes performing CPR on the unconscious singer before calling 911.

He evoked serious criticism for performing CPR on Jackson's bed, and not on the floor, where it would have been more effective.

The physician was further slammed when critics questioned why he allegedly waited half an hour to call for the emergency services.

He was also suspected of injecting Jackson with the potent painkiller Demerol, before the star collapsed in his home on June 25, a claim denied by the medic.

Jackson died aged 50 from an apparent cardiac arrest, purportedly triggered by an overdose of prescription pills. (ANI)
