London Underground drivers protest film

London train operators said Monday they would protest a comedy film about people killing themselves on the city's subway system. Members of the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen are set to distribute leaflets at the Monday evening showing of Three and Out, The Times of London reported. Mackenzie Crook, recognized for his role Gareth in the BBC TV show The Office, plays a subway driver trying to get his hands on compensation money by finding someone to kill themselves under his train. Protesters are hoping to get a strong point across with the message on their leaflets. We hope you enjoy the movie tonight, but please remember that for train drivers like ourselves, deaths on the railway are never funny, the leaflets read. Cook has defended the film, saying it isn't intended to make light of subway suicides. When I read the premise I thought this might be a touchy subject. But it soon became obvious that wasn't what the film is about, Cook told The Times. (UPI)
