WWE to start its own music label New York | March 28, 2006 12:01:13 AM IST
World Wrestling Entertainment Monday announced the formation of the WWE Music Group in New York. The label will create music for WWE TV and pay-per-view programs, WWE Superstar albums, entrance themes and a variety of new initiatives, WWE Executive Vice President Kevin Dunn said. Established recording artists as well as in-house talent will be tapped and the songs will reach across all media platforms such as film, TV, radio, the Internet, ring tones and video games. Dunn said the label cements the symbiotic relationship between the WWE and the music industry. We enjoy working with artists at every level, and have recent working relationships with many well-known performers -- including Kid Rock, Korn, Staind, Fat Joe, P.O.D., Shinedown, Lifehouse, Creed, and Alter Bridge -- and welcome the opportunity to create new avenues of expression for a wide variety of artists, he said. The new WWE Music Group General Manager is Neil Lawi, formerly of Columbia Records, who will work out of New York and report to Dunn. Jim Johnston, who has served as WWE music director for more than 20 years, will continue to produce and create original music and will work closely with Lawi, the organization said in a news release.
