U.S. grain trading was mixed Friday during a modest volume day on the trading floor. Corn was off 3 1/4 to off 4; soybeans were up 5 to up 11; wheat was off 39 to off 43; oats were off 1/2 to off 2. Corn opened low and regained strength as forecast showed a wet week ahead in the Midwest. Wheat is balanced on weather predictions, also, forecast showing beneficial rains headed toward the plains. Soybeans firmed on negotiations in Argentina, going poorly, that signaled a strike at shipping ports may resume. The prices: Corn: May 5.99 1/2, off 4; Jul 6.13, off 4; Sep 6.21 1/4, off 3 1/4; Dec 6.22 3/4, off 3 1/14. Soybeans: May 13.61 1/2, up 11; Jul 13.77, up 10 1/2; Aug 13.67, up 11; Sep 13.25, up 5. Wheat: May 8.70, off 43; Jul 8.85, off 43; Sep 8.99 1/2, off 42 3/4; Dec 8.99 1/2, off 39. Oats: May 3.78, off 1/2, off 1/2; Jul 3.89, off 1/2; Sep 3.99, off 2; Dec 4.15, off 1. (UPI)
