The Virginia Port Authority has signed an agreement with Moroccan authorities to increase ocean shipping between Norfolk and Tangier. The agreement to promote shipping between Virginia and Morocco hinged on the political and economic stability of the North African country, which offers a Mediterranean port near the Suez Canal, Mediterranean Basin Newsline reported. Trade between Virginia and Morocco reached $193 million in 2007, the report said. The agreement was signed by the Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency, the report said. (UPI)
