U.S. stock indexes lower Monday New York | May 10, 2008 12:01:13 AM IST
U.S. stock indexes trended down Monday after Bank of America's first-quarter report showed a 77 percent drop in income. The Dow Jones industrial average was down 57.40 points in early afternoon trading to 12,791.96, off 0.45 percent. The Standard and Poor's 500 index fell 6.70 points to 1,383.63, off 0.48 percent. The Nasdaq composite index declined 1.99 points to 2,400.98, off 0.08 percent. The 10-year U.S. Treasury note lost 12/32 to yield 3.753 percent. The dollar lost ground. The euro traded at $1.5884 from Friday's $1.5808, while the dollar traded at 103.31 yen Monday from Friday's 103.69. In Tokyo, the Nikkei average advanced strongly, up 220.10 points to 13,696.55, up 1.63 percent. In London, the FTSE 100 index lost 3.50 to 6,053.00, off 0.06 percent. (UPI)
