Pilots union employees picket their boss Fort Worth, Texas | May 10, 2008 12:01:13 AM IST
Employees who work for a pilots union in Texas are picketing their employer because they don't have a contract, an employee representative said. The tables have been turned on the Allied Pilots Association in Fort Worth, Texas, the Fort Worth Star Telegram reported Monday. The association has not signed a new contract with its own unionized hourly and office staff for more than 300 days, the report said. Coincidentally, the pilots union members recently marched on American Airlines headquarters over their own prolonged and bitter contract negotiations. An APA spokesman would not comment on its employees' strike. But a spokeswoman for the 23 picketing office and hourly employees, Kathy Schroeder, said the APA has not offered to restore any concessions the workers lost in their last negotiations five years ago. The office workers are behind them 100 percent in their efforts to get their contract restored, Schroeder said, so it's surprising to us that the same people are telling us ours can't be restored.
