U.S. stock indexes were mixed at the close Monday, following last week's gains and Friday's big rally. The market is probably resting a bit after a strong performance last week, senior investment strategist at Ridgeworth Capital Management told The Wall Street Journal. The Dow Jones industrial average was down 24.34 points at close Monday to 12,825.02, off 0.19 percent. The Standard and Poor's 500 index fell 2.16 to 1,388.17, off 0.16 percent. The Nasdaq composite index gained Monday, up 5.07 points to 2,408.04, up 0.21 percent. On the New York Stock Exchange, 1,366 stocks advanced and 1,767 declined on a volume of 1.124 billion shares traded. The 10-year U.S. Treasury note lost 2/32 to yield 3.714 percent. The dollar lost ground. The euro traded at $1.5921 from Friday's $1.5808, while the dollar traded at 103.17 yen Monday from Friday's 103.69. In Tokyo, the Nikkei average advanced strongly, up 220.10 points to 13,696.55, up 1.63 percent. In London, the FTSE 100 index lost 3.50 to 6,053.00, off 0.06 percent. (UPI)
