Labor Department sues company over wages
Denver | May 10, 2008 12:01:13 AM IST

The U.S. Department of Labor said it filed a lawsuit Monday in order to recover more than a million dollars in overtime from Aggregate Industries, WRE Inc.

The company, a subsidiary of Bardon US Corp., has agreed to comply with overtime mandates in the future, but refused to pay overtime wages it allegedly did not pay between June 25, 2005 and June 3, 2006, the Labor Department said in a statement.

Among this department's highest priorities is making sure that workers are paid all the wages they have earned, said Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao in the statement.

The Golden, Colo., company, which makes construction materials, paid truck drivers per load without regard to the number of hours worked, the statement said.

The suit was filed on behalf of 302 employees in U.S. District Court in Denver.
