 » IT campuses lack in security measures

The need for improved and higher security and safety measures in IT campuses in the country was today highlighted by a study which urged the real sstate developers to raise the bar of security. The study carried out by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Vestian Global Workplace Services had revealed that though the developers had followed the National Building Code while developing the IT campuses there were certain security gaps that need to be looked into, especially when the sector contributes 7 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product of the nation and is likely to employ nearly 50 million by 2015. The study was based on five parameters of basic amenities in these campuses, planning highlights, safety and security, operations and maintenance and innovation.

In a letter to Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, signed by Ministers and legislators, numbering 19, sought immediate meeting of the legislature party.

Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda today defended the State CEntral Crime Branch sleuths arresting a terrorist in Darbanga District of Bihar stating that it was an 'exceptional case'. Talking to newsmen here, he said he had already conveyed the state's view point over telephone to his Bihar Counterpart Nitish Kumar who had expressed his dissatisfaction over the state's move. 'It is quite natural that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed his displeasure over police action. But it was exceptional case and the facts would be conveyed to him (Nitish Kumar) through a letter shortly' he added. He said Police had no option but to act secretly as there was all possibility of the terrorist escaping if the operation of his arrest was informed earlier.' MORE UNI MSP VK GM AK1610 NNNN

Netherlands Minister for Health, Welfare and Sports Edith Schippers today said that her country was keen to have collaboration with Karnataka in health sector. Ms Edith Schippers, who led a five-member delegation, in a meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister and officers at Vidhana Soudha here, said 'India has developed a lot and possessed good environment for collaboration. Indian and Dutch companies can join hands in Health sector.' She said that Netherlands is interested in promoting Life Science and there is enough scope for joint venture in health technology.

 » K'taka defends arrest of terrorist in Bihar

Karnataka Law and Parliamentary affairs Minister Suresh Kumar today defended the state police action of arresting a wanted terrorist in Darbanga district of Bihar, for which Chief Minister of that State, Nitish Kumar, has voiced protest. Speaking to newsmen here, he said police had to act swiftly and arrest Mohammed Khatil Aktar of Bramanameli village in Darbanga district as the Central Crime Branch sleuths here feared that the fugitive might have escaped if information was provided to the Bihar Police. He said Aktar would be brought to Bangalore soon after he was produced before a court in Ranchi. He said the government would respond to Mr Nitish Kumar and at the same time Director General of Police A R Infant would also have a dialogue with his Bihar counterpart on the issue. Aktar was claimed to be the key accused in bomb blast at M Chinnaswamy Stadium here during the IPL matach between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 17, 2010. Eleven people were injured when the crude bomb planted near generator room went off before commencement of the match. The police have already arrested six people in this connection. The arrested were Mohamed Katil Siddaki, Aftab Alan, Mohamed Tarik, Gayur Ahamed, Gohar Aziz and Kamal Hassan. All hailed from Bihar.
